In a previous post I shared my journey with (potential) tinnitus, and how I had a visit with a TMJ doctor who fitted me with a…gulp…$1,500 mouthguard to help with my ear ringing issue. Here’s a picture of this doodad, in case you were wondering if it came with a flat-screen TV or lifetime Netflix membership (it doesn’t):
I’m quite pleased to report that I have noticed a significant reduction in ear-ringing and overall jaw pain/fatigue! I’m only a few days into wearing the device, but I’ve been waking up not feeling like someone has been punching my face all night, so that’s a plus!
So just as a quick recap, this combination of things seem to help to varying degrees for the ear ringing:
Trying to avoid super hard/chewy foods (I wouldn’t, for example, sit down with a big block of bread from Panera and start chowing down)
Chiropractic adjustments
Acupuncture (though I’m going to take a break so I can better measure how much the new mouthguard is helping)
Massages (I don’t know if they have directly helped the ear ringing, but as somebody who does a ton of computer work during the day, it definitely helps with overall neck/shoulder tension)
